IDEAS FLOW AT LIBERAL ALLIED HEALTH CARE FORUM

The second of a series of health forums to be hosted by the Canberra Liberals was held yesterday evening and provided an opportunity for the community and stakeholders to offer potential positive solutions to the serious issues plaguing the health system. The topic discussed was allied health and proved to be another success, Shadow Health Minister Jeremy Hanson said today.

“It was a great opportunity for allied health professionals, community organisations and health consumers to share their ideas,’ Mr Hanson said.

“The different groups represented included Diabetes ACT, the Australian Nursing Federation, the Health Care Consumers Association, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, the Australian Osteopathic Association, Chiropractors Association of Australia, and the Heart Foundation.

“I was very encouraged by the contributions made by all of those who attended the forum and appreciate the efforts they all made to present some great ideas.

“I hope some of the ideas that are born out of these forums will mould the policies we take forward. We will continue to do the hard work, meeting with health professionals and the community to help formulate policies that will turn around the decline of health figures under ACT Labor.

“The next forum will be conducted on 8 September and will be discussing Preventative Health. I look forward to another forum with constructive engagement and discussion with the community,” Mr Hanson concluded.
